PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonhydraulic coating composition comprising lime as a film component in which the problem on the crack of a dry film is solved, and to provide a method for suppressing the crack of a coating film regarding a nonhydraulic coating composition comprising lime as a film component. SOLUTION: A compound having a chelating action is used as one component in a nonhydraulic coating composition comprising lime as a film component. An organic chelate such as a carboxylic chelate compound, a phosphonic chelate compound, a phosphoric chelate compound, a sulfonic chelate compound and a reducing organic acid-based chelate compound, or an inorganic chelate such as a phosphate and a sulfate preferably having a molecular weight of≤1,000, more preferably, of≤600 is used.
