<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the work for adjusting when mounting a radar in a vehicle and the like. <P>SOLUTION: A transmission means 2 makes a transmission wave which is modulated with FM for example, supplies to a transmission antenna 4 and emits the transmission wave from the transmission antenna 4. The electromagnetic wave reflected by a bumper 6 is received with a reception antenna 5 and detected with a reception means 3. A signal processing means 10 uses the detected reception signal and calculates the distance to an obstacle and the relative velocity to the obstacle. The bumper 6 of the vehicle, where the radar is mounted, is one with changed reflectivity of surroundings around a target irradiation point.
