<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for mass-producing high quality preforms for press forming from molten glass with high productivity and a method for producing optical elements, in which the preforms produced by the same are subjected to precision press-forming. <P>SOLUTION: The method for mass-producing the preforms includes a process of supporting the molten glass in a state in which it is brought into contact with a support and accelerating increase of the viscosity of the molten glass by releasing heat of the molten glass by thermal conduction while the tip end of a molten glass flow is held by the support and a molten glass mass is transferred to a glass mass forming mold, and after the process, an operation to float the molten glass on the support is performed. Further, in a separation process for separating the molten glass mass from the tip end of the molten glass flow flowed out from a pipe, the viscosity of the molten glass mass is increased by holding the separated molten glass mass on the support for a prescribed time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
