<p>The invention provides a security system including a card reader for reading a stripe card as a smart card, which is actuated by such a card being fully inserted into a slot of the card reader. The security system may include an enclosed area having a closure panel and the invention may further provide a method of monitoring transactions such as the reading of a card inserted into the slot or the opening of the closure panel. The closure panel of the security system may include a locking member which is movable under the control of a solenoid and a hinge which enables the closure panel to be quickly fitted.</p> |
