PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device or the like which can effectively reduces ink consumption while smoothing the profile portion of an image printed. SOLUTION: The printing device comprises (A) nozzles to print an image by forming dots by discharging an ink toward a medium, (B) a controller which decides positions where the dots should be formed while specifying the positions by horizontal and vertical directions intersecting each other at right angles, and (C) a controller which makes dots smaller than oblong dots to be formed along the horizontal outline portion in an adjacent area outside the horizontal outline portion along the horizontal direction of the outline portion when the outline portion of the image is composed of a plurality of oblong dots longer in the horizontal direction than in the vertical direction and prevents dots from getting formed in an adjacent area outside the vertical outline portion along the vertical direction of the outline portion.
