<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording device and an optical recording method, by which the recording performance is improved when a disk is overwritten. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording device 10 performs, an OPC operation in a specified target modulation. A reproduced signal detecting circuit 31 receives the OPC operation to measure a jitter, amplitudes (I14, I14H, I3, I14) of the reproduced signal, etc. An asymmetry detecting circuit 32, calculates an asymmetry value of an optical disk from the above measured value. The measured reproduction information is temporarily recorded in a RAM 33. A laser power correction circuit 34, evaluates the calculated asymmetry value to increase/reduce a setting of the target modulation through a laser power setting circuit 35. When the asymmetry value is close to 0, the overwriting (DOW: Direct Over Write) operation is carried out with a current asymmetry value AS by a laser driving circuit 36. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
