PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain, at a low cost, a monofilament which is used for screen gauze, has good dimensional stability, when processed into a mesh woven fabric for printing screen, has excellent abrasion resistance and fatigue resistance, when woven or used, and has an excellent halation-preventing property in exposure processes. SOLUTION: This monofilament comprising a single polyester component and used for screen gauze is characterized by containing 0.5 to 1.0 wt% of an organic pigment in the polyester having an intrinsic viscosity [η] of 0.70 to 0.85 and having a delamination-generation index of≥10% and a strength of≥4.3 cN/dtex on an elongation of 10%.
