PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling state distinguishing device capable of further accurately distinguishing whether vehicular traveling is properly carried out or not. SOLUTION: The traveling state distinguishing device detects lateral force which directly influences on a behavior of a vehicle 10 and acts on a wheel 14 by a wheel acting force sensor 16. A traveling state discriminating portion 46 included in an ECU 20 provided on a vehicle body 12 side discriminates the traveling state of the vehicle 10 on the basis of fluctuation information of the lateral force of the wheel 14 provided from the wheel acting force sensor 16. The ECU provides an alarm to a driver through an alarm device when the traveling state of the vehicle 10 is judged as improper. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
