PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for effectively using two kinds or more of dots having different ink densities and dot diameters for a variety of purposes including prevention of banding, in a printing device. SOLUTION: This printer comprises a head equipped with at least two inks, i.e., a high density ink and a low density ink, for one color, and also capable of forming dots of a large diameter and a small dot diameter. The density per unit area can be changed by combination of the high density ink/low density ink and the large dot diameter/small dot diameter, however, the lightness of the combination of the low density and the small dot diameter and the combination of the low density and the large dot diameter is set approximately equal in a half tone. When an image is printed, the recording is performed by mixing dots of the low density and the small dot diameter and dots of the high density and the large dot diameter in the half tone, and thus, banding is eliminated. Both of the dots may be generated according to a predetermined pattern, or may randomly be generated.
