924,103. Golf clubs. A. J. TURNER. May 8, 1961 [June 7, 1960], No. 16589/61. Class 132 (2). A golf club, particularly for use in playing balls in bunkers, has a handle 12 coaxially secured in the hosel 13 by a pin 14, a blade 16 with a striking surface 17 which extends upwardly towards the rear and a weight portion 19 at the lower edge of the blade having a bottom surface 20 extending downwardly towards the rear to prevent the club head digging into the sand. There is provided a recess 22 between the back of the blade 16 and the weight 19, the weight being joined to the blade over less than 30% of the blade height and the blade being of uniform thickness elsewhere. The preferable angles between the plane through the handle parallel to the front edge of the club and D between the striking surface 17 and bottom surfaces 20 are 50-55 and 41-48 degrees. |
