Process for operating a direct methanol fuel cell stack

The method involves determining methanol mass flow from a flow of a fuel cell stack (BZS) measured during loading operation of the stack. Another methanol mass flow is determined by a characteristics diagram that correlates permeation of the stack with the stack flow. A third methanol mass flow, which is equal to a sum of former methanol mass flows, is introduced into an anode area (A) of a fuel cell system by a dosing pump.
