PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the function of a gate even when one gate function is impaired by providing one gate plate with two gate functions in a gate device for an earth removal port of a screw conveyer. SOLUTION: The gate device 1 opens/closes the earth removal port 14 of the screw conveyer 13 by advancing and retreating the gate plate 2. An opening part 2a for opening the the earth removal port 14 is formed in the gate plate 2 and gate parts 2b, 2c for closing the earth removal port 14 are formed to sandwich the opening part 2a at both sides in advancing and retreating directions of the gate plate 2, so that either of the two gate parts 2b, 2c closes the earth removal port. Accordingly, the gate function is maintained by using the other gate part 2c (2b) even when opening/closing by use of one gate part 2b (2c) is made difficult by deformation or the like caused by wear or earth pressure through contact with earth and sand.
