<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide terminal equipment capable of automatically switching the state when the terminal equipment is used in a state in which an external power is not always supplied, and to provide a method for controlling the terminal equipment. <P>SOLUTION: This terminal equipment is provided with a time setting part 200b for setting a predetermined start time, a time decision part 200c for deciding whether the current time is a start time, a power supply decision part 200d for deciding whether or not a power from the outside has been supplied under such conditions that it is decided that the current time is the start time by the time decision means 200c and a device control part 200e for activating its own device under such conditions that the external power has been supplied by the power supply decision means 200d.
