PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating agent excellent in adhesive property, heat resistance, water resistance and boiling resistance, which can be used suitably as an adhesive layer of a heat transfer sheet wherein the chloride content is reduced and toluene is not included. SOLUTION: A coating composition contains a maleic acid-modified polyolefin resin and/or an acrylic-modified polyolefin resin as a major component of a binder resin wherein these polyolefin resins to be used are not chlorinated.
