APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING BOTTOMED VESSEL AND METAL BILLET FOR HOT-EXPANDING FORMATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vessel and a cylinder object excellent in the edge face shape without requiring labor for producing them. SOLUTION: A metallic billet 200 which is used in a hot-press forming method for thick metal cylinder object or a cylindrical vessel has a cross-sectional shape of a square at the front side 200b in the press-forming direction and the length of the diagonal of the square is smaller than the inside diameter of a container. Further, the metallic billet has the cross-sectional shape of a circular shape at the rear side 200a in the press-forming direction, and its diameter is nearly equal to the inside diameter of the container. After heating the metallic billet to the press-forming temperature and a hot-expanding formation is carried out while piercing the center part of the metallic billet with a piercing punch operated with the press-machine and thus, the thick metal-made cylinder object or the cylindrical vessel is formed.
