<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring apparatus which enables seamlessly and clearly to display an object in a range where picked-up ranges overlap, make it possible to exactly recognize the number of the objects in the range where picked-up ranges overlap, to easily grasp the positional relation between a vehicle and the objects, and to exactly and easily grasp the presence of an object in a dead angel of the vehicle and the positional relation thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle periphery monitoring apparatus includes a first image pickup means arranged on the side of the vehicle and picking up a first image, a second image pickup means arranged in the front of the first image pickup means and picking up a second image, and a display means for displaying the first image and the second image. The apparatus monitors the periphery of a vehicle by using the display means. This apparatus includes an image processing means by which the boundary position of the first image and the second image in synthesizing the first image with the second image and displaying the synthesized image on the display means is set at a position on a line connecting a position where the first image pickup means is arranged and a position where the second image pickup means is arranged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
