PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member which has a cleaning edge part which is rarely chipped, is good in water resistance, is hardly degraded by organic solvents so that swelling rarely occurs, and can be stably used over a long period, in a cleaning member of an ink jet recording apparatus over a long period. SOLUTION: The cleaning member removes adhered substances on an ink discharge surface of an ink jet recording head which performs recording on a recording medium by discharging an ink which can maintain image quality for a long period on a printed material. The cleaning member is a polyether-based polyurethane having a mass change rate of 450% or less in a JIS-K-6538 rubber dipping test and having a polymerized cross-bridging structure containing a monomer component of trifunction or more or a cross-linking structure of a condensation functional group of isocyanate.
