PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overvoltage protection circuit that minimizes a leakage current at a reference voltage or smaller, can maximize the leakage current at the reference voltage or higher, can prevent an overvoltage from being supplied to a circuit at the reference voltage or higher, and can supply a sufficient current to the circuit at the reference voltage or smaller. SOLUTION: The overvoltage protection circuit includes a first switching section comprising a plurality of semiconductor devices that are mutually connected in series and are successively turned on depending on an input voltage from a rectifying device; and at least a pair of second switching sections in which a pair of semiconductor devices having different current characteristics is connected in series, and connection to the first switching section is made to be parallel.
