PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a user of information about the characteristics of an exchangeable lens and information about degradation in the performance of an imaging element due to time change. SOLUTION: A digital camera 2 comprises a camera body 3 and a lens unit 4. The lens unit 4 is freely attached/detached to/from the camera body 3. When the lens unit 4 is attached to the camera body 3, the camera body 3 and the lens unit 4 are electrically connected via connection terminals 6a and 7a. The lens unit 4 incorporates a CCD 21, a photographing lens 22, a non-volatile memory 23 or the like. The non-volatile memory 23 preliminarily stores a chart image obtained by photographing a resolution chart showing image resolutions by a CCD 21.
