PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing apparatus capable of producing a rotor groove seal having predictable seal pull out strength without impairing the performance of a sealing strip. SOLUTION: An automated sealing assembly (10) for rotary machines (50) includes a seal guide assembly (12) for adjusting the positions of a caulk wire (30) and the sealing strip (66) and holding them in a rotor groove (28) for peening, a peening tool (14) for peening the caulk wire (30) to deform the caulk wire (30) and for securing the caulk wire (30) and the sealing strip (66) in the rotor groove (28), an actuator for controlling movement and preload force of the peening tool (14) to produce the rotor groove seal (62) having the predictable pull out strength, and a base (18) for securing the seal guide assembly (12), the peening tool (14) and the actuator.
