PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily manufacturable and inexpensive door checker for an automobile having high sliding stability between a check lever and a case, by allowing mutual smooth rocking of the check lever and the case, when opening and closing a door. SOLUTION: This door checker has the check lever 6 having one side surface formed as a detent surface 9 and having the other side surface formed as a smooth surface 9', the case 1 for penetrating this check lever 6, a shoe 19 stored in this case 1 and slidingly contacting with the detent surface 9, and an elastic member 20 for energizing this shoe 19 to the detent surface 9 side. A fixed support part 25a slidingly contacting with a flat surface 9' of the check lever 6 is formed in the case 1. The case 1 is composed of a case body 1a and a cover 1b joined to this case body 1a and closing its opening surface. A tongue piece 25 having a projecting support part 25a slidingly contacting with the flat surface 9' and superposed on an inner surface of the case body 1a, is integrally extended in its cover 1b.
