<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a high-temperature storage characteristic of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery to a maximum extent by stabilizing a surface structure. <P>SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided with: a positive electrode using a transition metal-containing composite oxide intercalating lithium ions for a positive electrode active material; a nonaqueous electrolyte; and a negative electrode having a carbon material. The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is characterized by providing the surface of the lithium-containing composite oxide with at least one kind of molecule selected from a group comprising Li<SB>2</SB>CO<SB>3</SB>, M1<SB>2</SB>CO<SB>3</SB>(M1 is at least one kind of element selected from a group comprising H, Na and Li excluding Li<SB>2</SB>CO<SB>3</SB>) and R-COOM2 (R is at least one kind of functional group selected from an alkyl group, an alkenyl group and an alkynyl group, and M2 is at least one kind of element selected from a group comprising H, Na and Li). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
