PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus which can adjust the light emission quality of each optical source exactly to become the suitable amount of incident lights for each image reading sensor. SOLUTION: Each of light sources 302, 303 asks for the rate of an influence exerting on each of image reading sensors 300, 301, a light volume adjustment target value is computed when each of optical sources 302, 303 individually turn on from the light volume adjustment target value in the state that each of optical sources 302, 303 is simultaneously turned on using this rate of an influence, and the light volume adjustment of each of optical sources 302, 303 is performed.
