METHOD FOR INSPECTING FOREIGN MATTER IN CONTAINER AND ITS DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately discriminate between bubbles and foreign matter in a container without using a plurality of picture images.

SOLUTION: The container filled with a liquid is imaged by a TV camera with light from a light source caused to pass therethrough (S1). An image processor sets an inspection domain in a gray image taken by the TV camera (S2) to extract a bubble candidate domain serving as a bubble candidate in the inspection domain (S3 to S6). Labels corresponding to distances from a peripheral edge of the candidate domain to pixels in the candidate domain are affixed to the pixels to set inside domains closer to the middle of the candidate domain and outside domains closer to the periphery thereof in units of domains with same labels affixed thereto (S7 to S9). When the mean value of luminosity in the inside domains is higher than the mean value of luminosity in the outside domains and the degree of separation of the luminosity in the inside domains from the luminosity in the outside domains is equal to or more than a prescribed threshold, the relevant candidate domain is determined to be bubbles (S10).
