PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire detection system in a space with a variable oxygen concentration, capable of rapidly and reliably detecting fires, etc., in the space with the variable oxygen concentration where the oxygen concentration is adjustable from a normal oxygen concentration to a low oxygen concentration. SOLUTION: The fire detection system detects the fires in the target space which is adjustable in the oxygen concentration from the normal oxygen concentration to the low oxygen concentration, including a smoke sensor 2 for detecting the fires at a first detection position in the target space 1; and CO sensors 3a-3d for detecting the fires at second positions which are lower than the first detection position in the target space 1. Changeover is performed into both of the smoke sensor 2 and the CO sensors 3a-3d or into one of the sensor 2 and the sensors 3a-3d, based on the oxygen concentration of the target space 1, concerning the sensors to be used for detecting the fires.
