PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and inexpensive method for preventing the corrosion of metal substrates containing aluminum or aluminum alloy and for the pre-treatment of a coating. SOLUTION: A treatment solution ontaining a partially hydrolyzed aminosilane and a fluorine-containing inorganic compound is applied to the surface of a metal substrate preferably selected from aluminum, aluminum alloys and mixtures thereof from ambient temperature to about 150°F from about 2 seconds to about 5 minutes, and is dried, so as for form a coating at a weight of from about 10 to about 14 mg/sq.ft.
