PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means suitable to stably perform a rolling high in crown control capability by using a higher-order functional roll. SOLUTION: The outline of a roll barrel is decided so that the integrated value when the product of slip ratio between a work roll and a back-up roll in contact therewith, the square root of the linear load between the work roll and the back-up roll which is brought into contact with the work roll and the distance from the mill center is integrated over the entire width of the contact area between the work roll and the back-up roll becomes zero.
