PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an application method of a coating liquid capable of easily imparting a mask material in a desired state and a method for manufacturing a plasma display member. SOLUTION: The application method of the coating liquid comprising previously imparting the mask material near to the starting and terminating ends of coating a substrate and applying the coating liquid thereto, then peeling the mask material, wherein the mask material is a coating material of a liquid form solidifying after drying, and the coating liquid is spouted from above the mask material previously applied on the substrate on the terminating end side and is stopped from spouting on the mask material on the terminating end side, and the mask material is peeled after the end of the coating. and the method for manufacturing the plasma display member are provided.
