<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which deterioration of image quality caused by periodic speed unevenness in the vertical scanning direction of a photoconductor drum 8 is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: The number of rotations of a main motor 22 per unit time is adjusted so that a scanning period Q of a multibeam scanner 6 becomes integer multiples of a period S of the periodic speed unevenness in the vertical scanning direction of the photoconductor drum 8.
