PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video imaging device that ensures process flexibility of active pixel array. SOLUTION: An imaging device includes first and second semiconductor chips and a digital interface. The first semiconductor chip includes an active pixel sensor, a digital input/output section, and a plurality of control circuits, where all transistors of the active pixel sensor are n-type or p-type transistors, and at least one of the control circuits is operated under control of a timing signal externally inputted into the digital input/output section. The second semiconductor chip includes a timing generator for supplying the timing signal to the digital input/output section of the first semiconductor chip.
