Iron and method for assembling an iron

The iron has an iron shoe (1) incorporating an electric heating device and an attached iron sole plate (3), provided with a smoothing surface (5) brought into contact with the item to be ironed. The sole plate is secured to the iron shoe via a spike (7) on the opposite side to the smoothing surface, fitting through a reception bore (9) through the iron shoe, its protruding free end being bent for providing a secure connection. An independent claim for a manufacturing method for a domestic electric iron is also included.
