<p>A curable coating composition comprises (i) a vinyl halide polymer and (ii) a glyceride or fatty acid ester having an oxirane content of not less than 8.5%. Vinyl polymers (i) specified are polyvinyl chloride, bromide or fluoride, copolymers of vinyl chloride with vinylidene chloride, vinyl acetate, vinyl butyl ketone, acrylates or lower alkyl maleates or fumarates, and terpolymers of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate with vinyl alcohol or maleic acid. Epoxy esters (ii) specified are epoxidized linseed, perilla, lard and cottonseed oils and methyl 9,10,12,13-diepoxystearate. In the example the composition was deaerated under vacuum. In a comparative example an epoxidized soya bean oil of 6.3% oxirane content was used. Specifications 877,133 and 947,636 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 877,133.ALSO:Supports e.g. steel panels, are coated with a film comprising (i) a vinyl halide polymer, and (ii) a glyceride or fatty acid ester having an oxirane content of not less than 8,5%, and the support and film is heated to cure the film. The composition may be in the form of a plastisol, organosol, solution, latex or powder, and may be applied by dipping, brushing, knife coating, roller coating, or spraying. Vinyl polymers (i) specified are polyvinyl chloride, bromide or fluoride, co-polymers of vinyl chloride with vinylidene chloride, vinyl acetate, vinyl butyl ketone, acrylates or lower alkyl maleates or fumuates, and terpolymers of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate with vinyl alcohol or a maleic acid. Epoxy esters (ii) specified are epoxidized linseed, perilla, lard, and cotton seed oils, and methyl-9,10,12,13-diepoxystearate. In the example the composition was deaerated under vacuum.
