Shaped articles having improved dye-affinity are produced from polyolefins by shaping a composition containing a polyolefin and a compatible, covalent polymer containing acid halide groups, characterized in that the acid halide groups are treated to convert them to the corresponding free acid, salt or amine groups The polyolefin may be derived from ethylene and/or propylene and the covalent polymer may be phosphochlorinated polypropylene, phosphochlorinated polystyrene or a phosphonitrile halide. Treatment with water gives acid groups and with alkali gives salt groups, thus producing affinity for basic and disperse dyestuffs. Treatment with a nitrogenous base gives amine groups having affinity for acid dyestuffs. The compositions may be shaped into filaments, fibres or films.
