PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner for developing an electrostatic image excellent in offset resistance, fixing property, developing property and thin line reproducibility and capable of stably forming high-quality images over a prolonged period of time, and to provide an image forming method. SOLUTION: The toner for developing an electrostatic image comprises at least a resin, a colorant and (a releasing agent or a crystalline polyester), wherein the toner particles are obtained by salting out/fusion-adhering a resin particle containing a releasing agent or a crystalline polyester in a binding resin together with a colorant particle, and the toner is characterized by shape and particle size distribution.
