<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for accurately measuring the adhesive amount of toner while realizing the reduction of the cost by reducing the number of polarizing elements to be used. <P>SOLUTION: In the toner amount measuring device having a light irradiation means to radiate measuring light to a toner image adhering to an image carrier and a photodetector means to receive reflected light of the measuring light, the radiation angle of the measuring light is set to a Brewster's angle to the image carrier.
