PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sash window replacing structure and replacing method utilizing an existing sash outer frame as it is without changing the opening dimensions of a window, dispensing with large-scale construction work of breaking down the wall, causing no trouble such as stumbling because of not needing to raise the rising dimension from a floor, and furthermore allowing smooth opening/closing of the window. SOLUTION: An existing upper sash frame of a sliding door sash provided in an opening of a building is provided with a new upper rail provided hanging with almost the same width as the sash frame, a new covering type lower rail attached to an existing lower rail provided at the opening of the building, and a sash movably supported to the new upper rail and new covering type lower rail.
