PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointed needle which can produce a product being in rich in flexibility in such a manner that skipping and fraying are prevented from occurring even with an elastic yarn such as an FTY or a rubber yarn, and a chinking process is made to be surely performed, and to enable a product being in excellent in a wearing feeling to be produced. SOLUTION: This pointed needle is used while being installed on a looping sewing machine, an attaching section is formed at the upper part, and a thread passing hole is provided at a pointed section at the lower part. Then, the pointed needle is constituted by providing a gap forming section for making a thread catching member easily catch the thread of the pointed needle when the pointed needle is lowered to the thread catching member section under a state in which the thread is passed through the thread passing hole.
