摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for reducing background noises and enhancing the accuracy of detection and determination of analytes in nucleic acid hybridization assays. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a nucleic acid hybridization assay for detecting nucleic acid analytes in samples by using a plurality of assay components, wherein the each of a plurality of assay components comprises at least one hybridizable oligonucleotide segment and the nucleic acid hybridization assay comprises an improved step incorporating into at least one hybridizable oligonucleotide segment a first nucleotide unit which does not effectively form base pair with adenosine (A), thymidine (T), cytidine (C), guanosine (G) or uridine (U) under the condition that A-T and G-C base pairs are formed.
