PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent large current from rushing into an electric supercharger when an operation state of an engine shifts to a supercharging zone in a supercharging device for the engine. SOLUTION: This supercharging device is provided with the electric supercharger provided in an intake air passage, a bypass passage keeping communication between an upstream and a downstream of the electric supercharger in the intake air passage and a bypass valve for opening and closing the bypass passage. When the operation state of the engine belongs to the prescribed supercharging zone, the electric supercharger is operated and the bypass valve is closed. When the operation state of the engine enters the supercharging zone, an overcurrent zone-determining means determines whether it belongs to an overcurrent zone which is established in a high speed side of the supercharging zone. When the determination means determines that the operation state belongs to the overcurrent zone, open action of a throttle valve is limited. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
