A process in which by virtue of the use of a compound with specified chiral element as a starting compound, a compound having the activity of inhibiting HCV replication and having a desirable optical activity can be synthesized selectively in high yield through a reduced number of steps. There are provided compounds of the formula: (1-8) wherein Y is a group of the formula (I) ; Q is a protected carbonyl; D is -(CH<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>m</SUB>-R', etc.; and n is an integer of 0 to 10.
