<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive device capable of attaining size and cost reduction and high efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: This drive device includes a rectification circuit 4 having a capacitor with a small capacity with an AC power supply 1 as an input; an inverter 5 connected to the rectification circuit 4; a motor 6 driven by the inverter 5; an inverter controller 17 for controlling the inverter 5; a position detector 18 for detecting a position of the motor 6; a controller 19 for determining a commanded rotational speed of the motor 6; and an inverter power switch 22 for supplying power to the inverter 5 or stopping it. When a rotational speed determined by the controller 19 is 0 r/s (stopping), the power supply of the inverter 5 is shut down by an inverter power switch 22, so that the loss of the motor drive device is suppressed during motor stopping to suppress the power consumption of the device. Because the capacity of the capacitor of the rectification circuit 4 is small, a harmonic current can be suppressed and the use of a harmonic accommodation circuit can be eliminated, thus attaining size and cost reduction in the device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
