PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a float bath and a float forming process enabling to form glass with a high forming temperature without shortening the life of a strap for feeding a power to a heater. SOLUTION: The float bath has a bottom unit for holding a molten tin and a roof unit for covering the bottom unit, wherein the space inside the roof unit is divided by a roof brick layer 16 into an upper space 20 and a lower space 21, and a heater 18 is so arranged as to pass through a through-hole 17 which is provided in the roof brick layer 16. And, when the surface area of the electric power supply section 18A of the heater 18 that is located in the upper space 20 is S'<SB>k</SB>and its emissivity isε<SB>k</SB>, and the surface area of the electric power non-supply section 18B is S'<SB>n</SB>and its emissivity isε<SB>n</SB>, the expression of S'<SB>k</SB>×ε<SB>k</SB>+S'<SB>n</SB>×ε<SB>n</SB>≥3,630 mm<SP>2</SP>is satisfied.
