PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holographic recording and reproducing device and method, capable of surely reproducing information data recorded in a medium even when a part of an image projected on a detector is missed. SOLUTION: The holographic recording device records information data in a holographic medium by reference light emitted to the holographic recording device. This recording device is provided with an encoding means for multiplexing a plurality of information data in an information data string by a predetermined encoding system to generate encoded data, a light modulating means for outputting signal light modulated by encoded data to be written in a holographic medium, a reference light emitting means for making the reference light incident on the holographic medium, and an information data recording means for controlling the reference light interfering with the signal light to sequentially record encoded data.
