PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in a power amplifier to supply a driving signal to an ultrasonic transducer in an ultrasonic imager. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic imager has an ultrasonic probe, a waveform data generation means to generate a set of waveform data showing the waveforms of a plurality of driving signals to be supplied to the ultrasonic probe, a plurality of D/A converters to convert the set of waveform data to a plurality of driving signals, a plurality of amplifiers to amplify the power of the driving signals and supply to the ultrasonic probe which are set in a first action mode where power consumption is a first value in an ultrasonic transmission period, and set in a second action mode where power consumption is smaller than the first value in an ultrasonic reception period and a receiving circuit to process a plurality of reception signals and acquire image data showing an ultrasonic image.
