PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional material comprising citrus fruit pulp and/or β-cryptoxanthin which is a citrus fruit-derived substance.

SOLUTION: An improving agent for lipid metabolism and its food or an improving agent for cholesterol metabolism and its food are characterized as comprising the citrus fruit pulp and/or the β-cryptoxanthin which is the citrus fruit-derived substance. Furthermore, an improving agent for glucose tolerance and/or insulin resistance and its food are characterized as comprising the citrus fruit pulp and/or the β-cryptoxanthin which is the citrus fruit-derived substance. Thereby, a drug having functions to lower the total cholesterol and LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol level and its food and a drug having functions to lower the blood glucose level and its food can be provided.
