<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine start controlling device for a vehicle capable of preventing the vehicle from burglary when a start control of engine is to be conducted using an ID signal transmitted from a portable unit. <P>SOLUTION: The engine start controlling device is configured so that the ID signal returned from the portable unit K is collated with a request signal transmitted to the transmissible areas A1, B1, D, E inside the vehicle when the engine starting operation is conducted from an IG knob 34 and that the engine is started if the two signals are identical according to the result from collation. For example if the engine starting operation is made while a back door 6 is not closed, the request signal is transmitted even to the transmissible area C outside the vehicle, and if the ID signal returned from the portable unit K in response is identical according to the collation, judgement is passed that the driver exists outside the vehicle and there is a risk of burglary, and starting the engine is prohibited. When the back door 6 is not in the closed state, the following may be adopted; that the transmitting intensity of the request signal to inside the vehicle is weakened, or the transmitting direction is deviated from the back door 6, or the receiving sensitivity of the ID signal with respect to the request signal is dropped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
