An intermittent contact connector device including a frame (12) having a first frame section (28) movably connected to a second frame section (30) ; two electrical contacts (24) connected to the second frame section, an electrical shorting member (26) connected to the first frame section (28). At least one of the contacts (24) is an insulation displacement contact (IDC) member. The shorting members adapted to contact the two electrical contacts to thereby electrically connect the two electrical contacts to each other when the first frame member (28) is moved towards the second frame member (30).
