PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of reproducing contents not yet to be viewed without opposing a time sequence by an easy operation and optimizing a reproduction start position during the reproduction depending on conditions of an operation at the time of photographing, its control method and a program for implementing the control method. SOLUTION: In the case of reproducing existing contents in a play mode and then stopping it, shifting to a camera mode, photographing new contents 1, tentatively stopping it further, then photographing new contents 2, returning to the play mode and performing reproduction ((b)), the start position of the reproduction is the position of the recording start of the new contents 1. On the other hand, in the case of reproducing the existing contents in the play mode, stopping it, shifting to the camera mode, photographing new contents 3, turning off the power of a device body, then turning on the power of the body again, shifting to the camera mode, photographing new contents 4, shifting to the play mode thereafter and performing the reproduction ((c)), the start position of the reproduction is the position of the recording start of the new contents 4.
