PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat development method by which even in the case of heat development under high-speed transport, high sensitivity, low fog, high maximum density, and stable photographic performance in various imager installation environments are ensured. SOLUTION: In the heat development method, a sheet film coated with a silver salt photothermographic dry imaging material including on a support a photosensitive layer containing an organic silver salt, silver halide grains, a binder and a reducing agent is transported at a transport speed of 25-200 mm/s under heating. Value given by dividing a water content of the film after allowed to stand for 6 h in an environment at 23°C and 80% RH after opening by a water content of the film immediately after opening (initial water content change by exposure to environment) is 1.6-2.2.
