PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reading a picture which can carry out fine scanning again after testing processing. SOLUTION: A photographic film is carried, a picture frame of an object of reading is carried to a prescribed reading position to carry out previous scanning and fine scanning consecutively, and a picture obtained by previous scanning is displayed on a display part. An operator carries out testing processing while referring to the picture displayed on the display part. When trimming of the picture, changing of a print size, etc. are instructed in testing processing, fine scanning is again carried out.
